Four years was spent by Taryn Simon searching out families from all over the world, whose lives had been transformed by circumstances out of their control. The extraordinary stories are one of the latest art exhibitions at the Tate Modern called A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters I-XVIII, involving events orchestrated by other people rather than by natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. The exhibition has 18 sections which are referred to as chapters and before the exhibition was created, each of the projects had been created in book form, which they work best. The exhibition can be seen at the Tate Modern until 2 January, 2012.
